The Book Warren has moved! Many of you may already know however for those that didn’t, here is the news…

Running our Independent Bookshop in Willingham near Cambridge from April 2018 to October 2021 was an amazing and immensely enjoyable experience. Meeting so many wonderful people who supported our enterprise was amazing and without whom we couldn’t have won local and national awards for both our bookshop and our cafe.

The Pandemic however also made us re-evaluate our future and so we took the decision to make some big changes.

We sold our house, we closed our bookshop and we moved 350 miles to the rural, hilly idyll of the Southern Uplands near to the former Royal Burgh of Sanquhar in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland!

Mennock Pass

On the winding road that ascends through the hills sits the Mennock Pass and by continuing on, the traveller will be rewarded with the most wonderful views as they arrive at Wanlockhead, the highest village in Scotland.

The Book Warren Bothy is situated next to the Mennock Water that flows down from the hills to the River Nith. We’ll be opening our door for visitors in the coming weeks however in the meantime, you can browse and buy new books via our shop on

More news coming soon.
